Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?

A. You can’t wash your hands in a buffalo. ????

Q. Where is Ark Buffalo?

A. The village of Broughton, Hampshire, is the halfway point between Salisbury & Winchester. We’re 20 miles north of Southampton & just over an hour’s drive from London & Bristol. See map.

Q. Are dogs welcome?

A. Well-behaved dogs are very welcome. But please clear up after them & be aware of usual dog-in-countryside protocols.

Q. Can we park up our vans & campers?

A. Yep, there’s space for vans & campervans on all the sites. We don’t have electric or water hook-ups for them but we’ve got plenty of space (& tractors to give you a tow if you get stuck – touch wood).

Q. Can we see the buffalo?

A. If they’re around, yeah. We’re a 500-acre farm so they might be busy doing buffalo stuff somewhere in the distance – but if they’re grazing close by you can say hello.

Q. Can we bring speakers to play music?

A. Small speaker systems: yes. Massive rigs: absolutely not. Our sites are in sweet secluded spots but we still have to think about travelling sound waves (plus we need to keep a good rep in the village). If you want to make a bigger night of it, get in touch via info@arkbuffalo.com & we can chat about your requirements – bigger noisier events are definitely doable though.

Q. Can we book Ark Buffalo for a wedding / workshop event / big party?

A. Definitely – one of our sites is absolutely perfect for a big do, there’s even a marquee company that runs their operations from our farmyard. Email us at info@arkbuffalo.com to get the ball rolling on something special.

Q. What happens if we decide to cancel our booking?

A. If you decide to cancel, you will lose your £50 deposit.

Q. Where can we try some of your grass-fed buffalo meat?

A. Visit Hogget & Boar, our farm butchers. They’re based here in Manor Farm’s yard.

Q. How do we check in?

A. One of the Ark Buffalo crew will greet you on arrival.

Q. How will we find our campsite?

A. We thoroughly recommend the app What3Words for finding your campsite. It’s a very nifty app that maps exact locations using a unique combination of three words. We’ll send you your magic three words prior to your arrival.

Q. Do we need to bring toilet roll / hand soap / washing up liquid?

A. We provide hand soap & washing up liquid at all our sites, but you’ll need to bring your own toilet roll.

Q. Will there be power to charge our phones?

A. Yurt camp, yes, we have power supplies. Off Grid Camp… no, you’re off-grid baby! So think about bringing power packs & extra batteries for your electronic devices. We do have a small generator for hire – head over to our Extras page to find out more.

Q. We’re staying at the Yurt Camp, do we need to bring towels & bedding?

A. We provide duvets & pillows for the 6 beds at our Yurt Camp. We ask that you bring your own bed linen (duvet covers, sheets, pillowcases, etc.) & your own towels.

Q. Are there clothes washing facilities?

A: There are no washing machines or tumble dryers at either of our sites, so you might want to bring anything you need to do a good ol’ fashioned handwash.

Q: What about phone signal/internet on the farm?

A: We’re well covered with 4G, so if you were looking forward to some time away from screens, you may want to switch to airplane mode.

Q: Where are the nearest shops and pubs?

A: There’s a village shop and a pub just a few minutes’ walk from the Yurt Camp, and a 5-minute drive from our Off Grid Group Camp. Check out our Explore page to find loads more info on what’s around our way.
