Inside the Yurt

Yurt Camp

Set up inside the walls of our farm’s 200 year old kitchen garden, with a yurt, shepherd’s hut, fully equipped camp kitchen, hot showers & your own private meadow & river access to boot.

Big morning fry-ups in the camp kitchen, days paddling in the Wallop Brook, evenings round the campfire & cosy nights sleeping in the yurt & shepherd’s hut (maybe squeeze a hot shower in there too, but no pressure). With your own private facilities & flexible sleeping arrangements, our Yurt Camp is the perfect base for a quiet getaway for 4 – 6 people. Firewood included.

The site is enclosed by old cob and thatch walls, and when the gates are closed it provides complete privacy and no escaping dogs/children. From the camp there is immediate access to the water meadow and the stream. The excellent village pub and community shop are a few minutes walk away, and the local footpath network including the Clarendon Way is on your doorstep.

Part of the garden is fenced off for use as a commercial flower garden so we ask you to avoid this area. There is a small pond and greenhouse and general garden stuff, best avoided, especially by our younger guests.

The yurt has a double bed and 2 singles.

Jabba the hut, built entirely out of salvaged and recycled materials sleeps 2 very spaciously.

THE SITE

Our Yurt Camp is located on the outskirts of the village of Broughton, just across the road from our farm. The Wallop brook, a small chalkstream river, runs alongside the site & down past the meadow which is all yours to enjoy. There’s a great paddling spot along the brook, perfect for hot sunny days, which you’ll have private access to as well.

The site has easy road access, ample parking &, being a walled garden, is completely secure – great for campers with little children or dogs. Part of the wider garden is used by Julia our resident flower grower, we’ve kept a low fence there so can still enjoy the view of her lovely flowers.

SLEEPING FACILITIES

THE YURT (sleeps 4)

Every part of the yurt, minus it’s beautifully carved Rajasthani doorway, was handcrafted just across the road here by our very own Yurt-Master Stephen. The yurt’s wooden structure, made from local ash, willow & hazel coppice, was hand harvested & sculpted into shape using old-school steam-bending techniques. Now wrapped up in it’s big canvas jacket, our yurt couldn’t get much cosier. There’s a double bed, two single / day beds, so come rain or shine you’ll be getting a great night’s sleep in what is really, quite a special yurt.

SHEPHERD’S HUT (sleeps 2)

Jabba the shepherd’s hut is another really lovely living space – this time made for two. Built here at the farm using all reclaimed materials, Jabba’s fitted with a king-size bed & a sweet little mini kitchen. As well as some strong farmhouse-y vibes inside, there’s mains & solar power supplies, a radiator & electric lighting. But best of all is Jabba’s little outside porch, perfect for enjoying your morning cuppa in the sunshine.

EXTRA GUESTS

There’s also plenty of space for you to pitch extra tents & if your group has camper vans, they can park up in the meadow just outside the garden.

CAMP FACILITIES

You’ll have private access to a fully equipped communal kitchen with gas hob & fridge, sheltered dining area, fire bowl, BBQ, drinking water, hot showers, wash down area, toilet facilities & charging points for electronic devices.

We also provide your group an evening’s supply of sustainably coppiced firewood, which is replenished each night you stay.

PEACE & QUIET

As this site is relatively close to the village, we ask visitors to be respectful of the noise they make. If you think your group might struggle to keep the noise down, not to worry – our Off Grid Group Camp could be perfect for you! You can find out more about our off grid site here.
